Assistant Manager – Production (Assembly) | Automotive Manufacturing

Highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager – Production (Assembly) to lead and optimize assembly line operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of production targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, cost efficiency, and delivery performance.

The role demands strong expertise in automotive assembly processes, production planning, manpower management, process improvement, and operational excellence. The candidate will play a key role in driving productivity enhancement initiatives, implementing Lean Manufacturing practices, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the shop floor.

The ideal professional should possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and contribute to the organization’s manufacturing excellence objectives.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise day-to-day assembly line operations to achieve production targets.

Ensure adherence to production schedules while maintaining quality, safety, and delivery requirements.

Monitor line efficiency, productivity, cycle time, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Coordinate with Quality, Maintenance, Planning, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to ensure smooth production flow.

Analyze production losses and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Manage workforce allocation, shift planning, and employee performance.

Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) standards and company policies.

Support new product launches, process improvements, and capacity enhancement projects.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for operational issues.

Prepare and review production reports, MIS, and performance dashboards.

Develop and mentor team members to build a high-performance manufacturing culture.

Qualifications

BE/B.Tech -Mechanical

Experience

12 –18 years of experience in automotive manufacturing and assembly operations.

Prior experience with Automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers is highly preferred.

Strong exposure to high-volume manufacturing environments.
