Design Manager with 10–15 years of experience in the Automotive, Auto Components , or Tier 1 Supplier industry to lead product design and development initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end product development, leading cross-functional engineering teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of innovative, high-quality automotive products. This role requires expertise in new product development (NPD), design validation, engineering change management, and compliance with customer specifications and automotive quality standards. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams to drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive products from concept to production.
• Manage a team of design engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
• Coordinate with customers, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and project management teams.
• Develop innovative design solutions that meet performance, cost, manufacturability, and quality requirements.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, 3D models, GD&T, and design documentation.
• Conduct design reviews, DFMEA, DFM, DFA, tolerance stack-up, and value engineering activities.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, automotive standards, and internal engineering processes.
• Support prototype development, testing, validation, and production launch.
• Manage engineering change requests (ECR) and engineering change notices (ECN).
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, risks, and resource planning.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and cost optimization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or Mechatronics Engineering.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of automotive product development lifecycle (APQP).
• Expertise in DFMEA, PFMEA, GD&T, DFM, DFA, and tolerance analysis.
• Hands-on experience with CAD software such as CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of automotive standards including IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
• Experience with product validation, testing, and root cause analysis.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, machining, or forging.
• Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, MSA, and SPC is desirable.
