Director – Research & Development (R&D)

R&D Director to lead and drive innovation, product development, and research initiatives across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the complete R&D lifecycle—from ideation and feasibility assessment to development, validation, and successful commercialization—while ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and evolving market needs.

The R&D Director will play a critical leadership role in shaping the innovation roadmap, identifying emerging technologies, and translating scientific insights into commercially viable products. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including regulatory, manufacturing, quality, and marketing to ensure seamless execution and timely delivery of projects. The role also involves building strong external partnerships with research institutions, industry bodies, and technology providers to accelerate innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

Responsibilities:

Define and execute the organization’s R&D strategy aligned with long-term business goals.

Lead cross-functional teams in product innovation, development, and lifecycle management.

Drive research initiatives to develop new products, improve existing offerings, and enhance competitive advantage.

Oversee project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and timelines.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, quality systems, and industry best practices.

Collaborate with stakeholders including manufacturing, marketing, and regulatory teams.

Identify emerging technologies, trends, and opportunities for innovation.

Manage partnerships with external research institutions, vendors, and collaborators.

Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing R&D teams.

Qualifications:

PhD / Master’s in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biotechnology, or related field.

15+ years of experience in R&D within pharma, biotech, or healthcare industry.

Proven leadership experience managing large, cross-functional teams.

Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and regulatory frameworks.

Experience in innovation management and commercialization strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in global R&D operations or multinational environments.

Strong track record of successful product launches.

Knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI in drug discovery or digital health.
